Learning Links Before and After School Care

Learning Links is a state licensed for 123 children.  The owner of the center is Kristen Brost.  The center cares for children 4 through 12 years of age.  All staff members are qualified under requirements from the State to work with children and are CPR certified.  All staff members have a background check upon hire and are responsible for continuing education.

GENERAL CONCERNS
 
The center is closed during the summer months, Winter, Spring, Thanksgiving Break, Major Holidays and Election days.  The center also closes anytime MPS does for poor weather conditions or emergencies.
 
MGIS is not responsible to relay any message or paperwork to Learning Links Child Care Center.  Parents need to contact the center directly with the questions and concerns.
 
The center opens daily at 7:00 a.m. The doors will remain locked until 7:00 a.m.  Please look for the “OPEN” sign on each door prior to sending your child in.  Please understand that we cannot let the children in before 7:00 a.m. due to insurance regulations.
 
Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m. A child is welcome to eat the center’s breakfast at no additional charge if they are scheduled for the first morning session.  If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m. the center can escort them to the MGIS breakfast at 8:45 a.m.  A parent must sign the required Learning Links form in order to be released.
 
Snack is served from 4:00-4:15.  If a child chooses not to have the center provided snack, for any reason other than a doctor documented allergy, they may bring in a fresh fruit or vegetable, which will be sent from home and kept in their bag until snack time.
 
The center will substitute foods only if there is a documented food allergy from a doctor.  These substitutions will be provided by the center.  Due to food allergies no other outside food will be allowed aside from fresh fruits or vegetables.
 
All persons picking up a child must present a picture ID until staff is familiar with each family.  In addition, any person taking a child must be on the center “Child Information” form.
 
Parents need to keep all information current and up to date; addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contact information.  The center needs to be able to contact families when necessary.
 
The center closes at 6:00p.m. A fee of $1.00 per minute/per child will be assessed for time past 6:00p.m. The fee goes directly to staff supervising your child and needs to be paid prior to your child returning to the center.  If a child is left past 6:30p.m. without contacting the center, Social Services of Milwaukee will be called.
 
Please do not send toys from home.  Items will be collected by staff and returned upon parent request.
 
TUITION
 
 We accept only Cash, Checks or Money Orders. Payable to Learning Links.
 
A $75.00 fee is due at enrollment.  Each year a re-enrollment fee per child is added to each account in May if your child will return the following school year.  Both fees are non-refundable.
 
Tuition is based on what is SCHEDULED, not on attendance.  Please refer to Fee Schedule Form.
 
The center has a 3 day minimum per each session per week policy.
 
If a child exceeds his/her scheduled session by 5 minutes the account is charged for the additional session fee along with a $5.00 penalty fee per each session occurrence.  This policy applies to all accounts and all situations.  The center is State licensed and must remain in compliance of the teacher/child ratio at all times.  In order to follow this regulation we must be informed in advance of the number of children for each day.
 
The center cannot accept “calling the day of” to request care.
 
It is the parents’ responsibility to pay tuition on first scheduled date of attendance.
 
A $5.00 fee is assessed to each account if tuition is not paid on first day of attendance.
 
VACATION/SICK DAYS
 
3 vacation/sick days per child are allotted from September through the last day of school. 
 
If a child is scheduled on an MPS off day vacation/sick time cannot be applied.
 
Parents must request a vacation/sick day in writing in order to be applied to the account.
 
Any child that does not attend the center for 5 consecutive days, without notice to the center, will be dis-enrolled.  Vacation will be applied if available and family will be responsible for balance on account.
 
Any child involved in extracurricular activities must complete a Release Form prior to the start of the activity.  The center cannot be responsible for escorting or retrieving the child from the activity and is not responsible for supervision during this time.  Tuition fees will remain family’s responsibility if the child was originally enrolled during the time of the activity.
 
MPS OFF DAY
 
It is the parents’ responsibility to sign their child up for the MPS off day one week prior on the form the center provides.  If the parent does not enroll their child for that day the center will assume alternate care has been found and the account will not be charged.  Late sign up will include an additional $5.00 fee.
 
All families need to provide a lunch on these days.  The center does not have access to a refrigerator/microwave.  The center is a peanut/treenut free facility.  Any food served or brought in lunches on off days must be free of all nut products and not manufactured in a plant that may contain nuts.
 
If the center attends a field trip on off days all children must participate.
 
Activities, crafts and lesson plans are done on off days.
 
Toys from home are welcome on off days; with the understanding it is the sole responsibility of the child, not the staff.

MEDICATION/HEALTH ALLERGIES OR CONCERNS
 
Any child with health concerns who need medication must be sent with proper non-expired medication, which will remain on the center’s site.  Proper doctor forms must also be provided.  Any child with a health condition that does not have proper medication will be dis-enrolled unless a doctor excuse is provided on State licensed health report document.
